My picks from SIS's Tamil New Year celebrations 2024, London - part1

What a fantastic way to start a fresh new year, Krothi year as per Tamil Calendar! The organizing committee of SiS – South Indian Society, London did a fabulous job in putting together a nice program.

Below are some of the highlights that I can recall, in case I missed mentioning some, it is simply because I wasn’t fortunate enough to attend all the performances, would be glad to add notes if you send them across though (Include photographs if you can, please!).

Young lads of SIS started the event with a Pillayar paadal (Ganapathi devotional chant) that set the stage for thrilling performances ahead.

Panchanga Patanam

Panchanga Patanam – reading summary of Panchangam was done ably by SIS’s senior member. The emcee of the event did a nice plugin to request him to pass on that wisdom to the next generation, hope that happens sooner than later! Also, the senior member put forward a suggestion to invite a Vedic scholar next time around to do this auspicious panchanga Patanam! As it goes with every year, the fortunes mix and match for all and the audience shall remember the popular KandarAlangaram verse as below:
